Depending on their preferences and budget, car owners use brick, cinder block, and wood, but a frame garage made of profile pipes is no less popular than a brick structure.
Firstly Buildings made from profile pipes are very easy to construct with your own hands.
Secondly They are easy to connect, so it will only take you a few hours to build it.
Thirdly The sheathing material for the pipe frame can be either wood or a metal profile.
But, despite the fact that the work of building a garage is very simple, you should still start with design and planning.
Garage layout
To ensure your frame garage pleases you every day with its appearance and convenience, you need to think through every meter of its layout.
To begin, create a preliminary drawing where, using scaling and dimensions, you will mark out the entire structure.
Calculate the dimensions of the structure required for your particular vehicle.
Below are two variants of drawings of the future building.
Once the drawing is completely ready, use a calculator, pen and paper to calculate the amount of material needed and what types you will use.
Professional pipes are measured in meters, so calculating their quantity from the drawing will be very simple.
When you create a garage plan, please note that the supporting pipes must be completely solid and have the maximum possible length.
This is especially important for its foundation. You need to include all the elements that will comprise the garage frame made of profile tubing in the drawing.
Also consider how you'll connect the pipes. If you want to install the carport permanently, it's probably best to use metal welding.
But if you want to create a collapsible structure, then you will also need fasteners.
You can buy corners and other fasteners at a hardware store. You'll also need to buy the required number of bolts and nuts to connect all the elements.
The fastest way to connect is welding, but you will not be able to transport, dismantle and reassemble a car frame garage assembled this way.
A prefabricated structure has another advantage: you can expand its overall footprint at any time. And not everyone owns a welding machine.
Also think about what kind of gate you will install on the building.
Once the layout on the drawing is complete, write out the work plan:
- Marking out the area for a frame structure
- If necessary, create a foundation for a frame structure
- Installation of the main frame from the profile
- Gate installation work
- Roofing and roofing
- Sheathing works
Of course, a foundation is essential for all buildings, but since profile garages can be used as dynamic objects, one is not necessary. Furthermore, the structure will be very lightweight and can be placed simply on the ground.
If you are installing a frame on your plot of land and want to make it monolithic, then you can also create a foundation using all the necessary technologies.

Material
The main frame of the structure, consisting of profile pipes, will be best erected if square products are used, since they are the easiest to connect.
The construction market also offers products with a rectangular cross-section, but assembling a structure from such material is a little more difficult.
The main garage posts must be made from 100 x 100 mm diameter profile pipes. This will ensure high stability and durability of the structure.
But for the stiffening ribs under the frame, it is not necessary to use such wide ones; pipes with a cross-section diameter of 60 by 60 millimeters are suitable for these purposes.

Tools
After purchasing all the necessary materials at a hardware store, purchase all the necessary tools. To install a garage from a profile pipe yourself, you'll need the following tools:
- Construction tape measure. A tape measure with a total length of 10 meters works well.
- An electric drill with a set of metal drill bits for making holes in the profile yourself.
- An angle grinder with a set of metal discs for cutting and aligning the metal profile for the frame.
- Marker for marking materials.
- Keys and heads that are necessary for the final assembly of the structure to make fastenings.
In addition to all these tools, it is imperative to purchase personal protective equipment during work: glasses, thick gloves, and a mask.
This is necessary because when working with metal, small chips are formed, which are very dangerous for the body, especially the eyes and skin.
Foundation
If you own the land where your car's "house" will be installed, it makes sense to install the structure in a permanent location.
To secure the structure, a foundation will need to be prepared. This is done to prevent the structure from sinking into the ground.

There are several ways to build a frame garage for your car yourself:
- A prefabricated reinforced concrete slab is suitable for those with the financial means to purchase them. For the foundation, you should order several prefabricated reinforced concrete slabs at once. They will be delivered to you on large trucks, and construction cranes will help with their installation. Before ordering the slabs, you need to prepare the site for them, which means leveling the work surface, excavating a pit, and laying several layers of gravel and sand. This is necessary to ensure the prefabricated concrete slabs sit securely in place. The total area of the slabs must be greater than the area of the foundation frame.
- If your budget is tight, you can use a monolithic reinforced screed as a foundation. This type of screed is ideal for frame structures, including car garages made of profile pipes. Its main advantage is that it is the most cost-effective of all other options.
- Paving slabs are also often used as a foundation for a frame garage, but a concrete screed must first be made.
If you are installing the foundation for the frame yourself, you need to know that the base must be 20 centimeters above the ground surface.
This is necessary to prevent rainwater from entering the room and to avoid any contact of the walls with atmospheric residues.
Installing the frame

There are two ways to assemble a frame garage from a profile pipe yourself: local assembly and modular assembly.
But don't forget about waterproofing; to create it, you should lay a strip of rubber or roofing felt between the profile base and the foundation surface.
Local assembly involves work without additional labor, that is, alone.

First, you need to install the lower frame made of horizontal profiles; this will serve as the main foundation for your garage.
To do this, cut all the profile pipes to the size required according to your drawing.
Then the base of the structure is laid on the foundation along the entire perimeter and connected in stages using metal corners.
Vertical profile pipe supports are installed at the corners, onto which the top trim is installed in stages. Once the frame is assembled, be sure to install horizontal stiffeners as shown in the design drawing.
Modular assembly involves prefabricating the structural modules in advance. This means that wall modules are assembled on the ground and then connected together.
Of course, this type of assembly is extremely convenient and quick. In addition to the walls, the ceiling, roof, and individual structural elements can also be pre-assembled.
When constructing a roof, it's important to consider the material that will be used for its cladding. But it's best to consider these aspects at the design and drawing stage.

Final works
Once the installation work is completed, the gate can be installed.
Sectional doors are very convenient for frame garages, as are roller doors, because they don't require much space. Swing gates are also suitable; they are easier to install.

Once the gate is installed, you can apply the exterior cladding to the garage. Siding and corrugated sheeting are ideal for frame buildings.
When cladding with siding or plastic, you must first cover the frame with OSB construction boards, which will serve as the base of the walls.
High-quality cladding will also provide heat and sound insulation.
A frame made of profile pipes gives the owner free rein to his or her imagination, as you can clad the structure with any material. Furthermore, you can install a wide variety of decorations and elements.
Once the building's cladding is complete, the roofing material can be installed. It's important that the roof has a slope away from the garage walls to prevent water from running onto them.
Don't forget to install gutters and rainwater tanks on your frame garage made from profile pipes. As you can see, all the work is simple and can be done by yourself.
