1. Calling a self-contained vacuum truck is an inexpensive and fairly effective method for not only pumping out the contents but also removing sediment from the bottom of a cesspool or septic tank. Fecal wastewater is often contaminated with large particles that can clog the pipe and impede the absorption of the pumped substance. To prevent this, a grinder is installed at the inlet to break up large particles in the flow.

The disinfection of septic tank contents is also carried out using chemicals.Their action is based on the neutralization of biologically active substances and the oxidation of fecal matter.

As a result of this treatment, most of the wastewater becomes a liquid, more easily permeating and filtering through the soil. This treatment significantly reduces the need for sewer pumping in a private home.

Using biochemical treatment methods may eliminate the need for pumping altogether. This is possible in the following cases:

• the septic tank is installed on a suburban area with periodic visits;
• the cesspool is used only for fecal waste, storm water and household waste are discharged separately;
• The pit must have a significant volume and cross-sectional dimensions so that the runoff has time to filter into the ground.

If these conditions are not met, biochemical methods can only increase the frequency of pumping, but it will not be possible to completely abandon it.

Strictly speaking, treatment with biochemical materials is not pumping. It simply changes the physical state and consistency of the wastewater. The resulting mass acquires many useful properties as a fertilizer and is successfully used in gardening and horticulture.

Modern septic tanks also use aeration of the wastewater by blowing it through with an air stream. The increased oxygen concentration in the liquid stream leads to accelerated oxidation of waste products in the fecal matter, promoting faster purification.

These units are also equipped with grinders, which allows them to be used for working with heavily contaminated liquids with large inclusions.
